Reflecting on the Past Year & Embracing Change

As we approach the end of the financial year and begin setting goals and budgets for 2026, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to my clients and followers. This year has been a journey of growth, change, and deep reflection—both personally and professionally.

Like many, I have experienced my share of highs and lows over the past year. While I prefer to focus on the positives, I also believe in being open about the challenges that shape us. This year has brought significant changes to my business, and I want to share a bit about that journey with you.

The Power of Delegation and Change

From the early days of my business, I have been a firm believer in delegation. My philosophy has always been to focus on what I do best and entrust other tasks to those with the right expertise. This approach not only helped me but also ensured my clients received the highest quality service, sometimes through my trusted team members.

For five years, this system worked beautifully. However, with my Administration Legend, Katie, resigning to pursue her passion for gardening, I was faced with a crucial decision. Katie provided an exceptional level of service in administration—something I knew I couldn't match because my true strength lies in numbers. This change led me to reevaluate my business model and seek divine guidance on the next step forward.

A New Direction: From VA Services to Virtual Bookkeeping

In April 2024, after four years of offering general Virtual Assistance, I made a bold shift—I transitioned to a solo practice, focusing solely on bookkeeping and payroll, areas where I truly thrive. The change was exciting, and I quickly found joy in my work.

However, as months passed, I realised the demanding deadlines of bookkeeping sometimes took a toll on my physical and mental health due to my chronic pain. I take immense pride in the quality of my work, and I knew I needed to make another change—one that would allow me to serve my clients without compromising my well-being.

The Birth of Still Waters Bookkeeping Limited

Through prayer and reflection, I found clarity: my business needed to evolve again. And so, Still Waters Bookkeeping Limited was born—a brand that aligns with both my expertise and my need for a balanced, sustainable work life.

Why Share This?

In a world where social media often highlights only the wins and achievements, I believe it’s important to acknowledge the struggles too. Many business owners face challenges—whether health-related, financial, or emotional—but these hurdles do not define us. What truly defines us is how we navigate them.

For those who may be struggling, battling imposter syndrome, or feeling stuck, I encourage you to take a step back and evaluate your business. Does it serve you as well as your clients? If not, don’t be afraid to pivot. Adapting your business to align with your strengths and well-being can be the key to long-term success and fulfilment.

We all have our struggles, but it’s not our challenges or failures that define us—it’s what is within us.

Here’s to growth, resilience, and embracing the journey ahead!

With blessings,
Elizna
